Welcome to Neko, the new wiki for BushidoHacks.com. The old wiki is kaput. We believe the guy next door who works at the video store left the coffee maker on and burned down the entire thing. So it is back to square one. Starting from scratch.
On the lighter side there are new features to this version of MediaWiki that could not be done using the old wiki.
The main focus of this wiki is scietific information, mainly mathematics, science, computer science, engineering, technology, and a dash of logic and English.
If you wish to talk to me online, you can sometimes catch me in the EFNet #stlouis FDFNet #fark IRC chat room as bushidohacks, pending that you can put up with me.
- See a list of some random thoughts, ideas, and links that have not been categorized yet on my scrapbook.

Current Topics
- C++ and OpenGL
- Physics with vectors!
- Calculus especially analytical geometry and vector calculus
- Scalable vector graphics -- Easy to create using a program called Inkscape.
- UML -- used in software engineering to create class diagrams of programs. Easy to create using a program called Dia.
- PHP espeically finding out how to use PHP to create images using ImageMagick and eventually Flash.
- MySQL. Hey, if were going to be talking about PHP, Linux, and Apache, may as well talk about SQL.
- bash, vim, sed, awk, grep, date, and other Linux and UNIX regular expression text processing utilities.
- TeX is important to know if you are going to be adding math formulas to your articles.
- TI-83, TI-89. Program that calculator you paid so much money to use.

- Assembly language low level programming
- Finite automata -- an interesting topic in computer science. Finite State Machine diagrams can be created using Dia.
- Ajax. Again, using PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and XML are important.
- Telephone, Computer, Radio, Electricity learn how all that works!
- People of science and other cool stuff.
- Inventor Nikola Tesla was considered a mad scientist for his ideas, including controling the flow of water to provide service for man's usage. Eventually, after many struggles including the loss of his laboratory in a fire, Tesla's dream became a reality in the form of one of North America's greatest electric power souces, Niagra Falls. A better inventor than Thomas Alva Edison. Tesla made it possible to distribute electricty from far distances using alternating current as opposed to Edison who wanted to use direct current which was quite dangerous (DC creates more heat than AC at high voltage) and required an electrical line for each customer. Tesla also was friends with author Mark Twain. Some people though that Tesla was a wizard in that he could create "real magic", because of his well known invention the Tesla coil which allowed him to make it seem like he could manipulate lightening with his hands.
- Léon Theremin a Russian invetor who created one of the first electrical instruments that required no physical contact, the Thereminvox. This instrument would inspire the creation of other electrical instruments including the synthesizer and the electric guitar, even though those instruments still require physical contact. The Thereminvox is also known for playing creepy music in horror and sci-fi movies.
Todo List
-
Enable uploading images.(Reminder: only registered users who contribute often to this wiki will have this privliage once it is enabled.)
- Done with some exceptions. SVG files can't be loaded yet. Working on that right now.
- Create a new logo for this Wiki.
-
Change the Icon for this Wiki.
- Changed the Icon for this site. I don't know why they insist on using
.icoimages..pngalso works, atleast for Firefox anyway. The Icon chosen was
Nekoconeko! ^_^ I like the idea of using the symbol of Nekoconeko as this wiki's logo. The big cat that looks forward and the little cat that looks upward. A teacher and it pupil. I'd also like to add a starybackground to the logo. The big cat symbolizes the need to look forward to the future. The little cat symbolizes the need to look upward to the stars. The relationship between the two cats is also symbolic of metaphor as stated by Sir Isaac Newton:
- "If I have seen further [than the ancients] it is by standing on the sholders of Giants." [1]
- Ensure that the Wiki can convert uploaded SVG files to PNG format (Something Wikipedia can do.)
- SVG files can now be uploaded. PNG conversion does not seem to work for the moment. I'll fix that tomarrow.
-
Ensure that the Wiki can parse Math formulas to PNG format. (One of the reasons why I like using MediaWiki.)
- The math parser
texvcis working. If you can see this formula y = mx + b then it is working.
- Find out if there is a way to check spelling using wiki. (When in doubt, Check Answers.com for the proper spelling and usage.)
-
Ensure that qif works. (a much needed Wiki template for creating templates).
